English Speaking Club: “Mental Health & Self-Care: How Do Americans Talk About It”

Webinar •

The pace of modern life has brought words and expressions related to mental health, self-care, stress, and emotional well-being into everyday conversations. But how do people actually talk about these topics in English? What do Americans mean when they say, “I’m burned out,” “I need some me time,”* or “I need to set some boundaries”?

At our next Conversation Club, join Anelly Arana, an educator from Florida, for a conversation about how Americans talk about stress, burnout, therapy, personal boundaries, and finding a balance between work and personal life.

What we’ll talk about:

✦ Stress & Burnout

Learn how to talk about stress, exhaustion, and burnout, and explore the differences between being stressed, overwhelmed, and *burned out.

✦ Therapy & Mental Health

Explore how people in the U.S. talk about therapy, emotional well-being, and seeking professional support.

✦ Self-Care

What does self-care actually mean? We’ll look at common expressions people use when talking about taking care of themselves and their well-being.

✦ Boundaries

Learn how to talk about personal boundaries, communicate your needs, politely say no, and explain what is important to you.

✦ Work-Life Balance

Practice talking about workload, rest, personal time, and maintaining a healthy balance between work and life outside of it.

Throughout the session, we’ll explore expressions you can hear in real-life conversations and put them into practice right away, helping you expand your vocabulary and feel more confident discussing everyday and personal topics in English.
