Freedom 250: Ladies of the Revolution

Hoin us for an online lecture exploring the women who played important roles in the American Revolution — on the battlefield and home front, and in political, economic, and public life.

We will discuss: 🔹 the role of women on the home front: managing farms and businesses, supporting soldiers’ families, and caring for the wounded; 🔹 the “Daughters of Liberty” and boycotts of British goods; 🔹 women who took part in military actions and even disguised themselves as soldiers; 🔹 Abigail Adams and her views on independence and women’s rights; 🔹 the impact of the American Revolution on women’s position in the new republic.

Our speaker, David Goldfield, is an American historian, writer, filmmaker, and professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is the author of 16 books, two of which were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
